Dubai, May 26: Schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will have three semesters from the next academic session, the ministry of education announced Wednesday.
The new system will be implemented in all government and private schools in the 2010-2011 session, after the ministry took a decision following research conducted by specialised teams, which examined the benefits of the advanced three-semester learning system, Minister of Education Humaid Al Qattami said.
The new plan fits well into the ministry's strategy for upgrading the educational sector. It will feature two vacations, he said, adding that the school year will have 180 days and the school calendar will be set for the next three years.
