Bengaluru, Dec 14: The ambitious 'Vidyagama' scheme aimed at imparting education at the doorsteps of the students of government and aided schools, is likely to get clearance for re-introduction on Monday, December 14. The department of public instruction is expected to submit its report on the continuance of the scheme on Monday.

The high court on December 7, gave 10 days to the government to take a stand on the issue. The department took steps to collect opinions from all the district deputy directors of public instruction and teachers organization representatives and submit the same to the high court.

It is said that the general opinion which has emerged is that 'Vidyagama' is an excellent scheme that helps government and rural school children. As the coronavirus impact has eased now, it has recommended implementing the scheme in school premises instead of temple premises, parks, playgrounds etc. The state, therefore, is likely to implement the scheme again after the high court issues directives.

The classes will most likely be held on a shift basis. For fifth standard students, classes are proposed to be held on Mondays and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for sixth standard students and Fridays and Saturdays for seventh standard students. Maintaining of social distance, use of sanitizer, wearing of masks by students and teachers compulsory etc are recommended to be followed.
