Kundapur, Dec 14: “Jesus is the symbol of peace and forgiveness. He forgave even when he was dying on the cross. He had asked his disciples to love and forgive others the way he did to them. We should follow what Jesus preached and practiced in his life,” said Basrur church parish priest Fr Charles Noronha. He delivered his Christmas message after watering a sapling and inaugurating a Christmas goodwill programme held jointly by Catholic Sabha Kundapur deanery and Shevot Foundation along with Udupi diocese Latin Catholic Siro Malabar Catholics, CSI, Orthodox Syrian church members and other community members in the society at Basrur St Philip Nerry church auditorium on Sunday.
Udupi CSI former president, Fr Steven Sarvothama said that Jesus was born poor among the poor in the world. “He won the world as the king of peace. Let us present ourselves to Jesus on his birthday as a gift by converting ourselves towards the right ways,” he said.
Thenkanidiyoor Government First Grade College co-professor, Jayaprakash Shetty and Basrur Government Urdu school president, Abdul Azeez were the guests of honour. Catholic Sabha Kundapur deanery president, Mable D’Souza chaired the programme.
Catholic Sabha Kundapur unit members sang a welcome song. Basrur St Philip Nerry CSI Kripa Church Kundapur performed dances and presented a skit. Shevot Foundation president, Vinod Crasto handed over monetary help to construct houses to a selected few.
CSI Kripa church Kundapur in-charge Joel Suhas, co-convener Jeevan Salian, Eric Gonsalves and others were on the dais. Programme convener Preetham D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Catholic Sabha Kundapur deanery secretary, Melvin Furtado rendered the vote of thanks. Shaila D’Almeida compered the programme.
