J&K DDC polls: 28.24% votes polled in 7th phase


Jammu, Dec 16 (IANS): The seventh phase of District Development Council (DDC) elections in J&K recorded voter percentage of 28.24 per cent across constituencies spread over different districts of Jammu & Kashmir, in the first four hours of polling till 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

As per the figures given by the office of the State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Pulwama has recorded voting percentage of 6.58 per cent, Baramulla 29.29 per cent, Kulgam 8.81 per cent, Shopian 3.30 per cent, Anantnag 12.50 per cent, Bandipora 39.76 per cent, Ganderbal 22.22 per cent, Kupwara 25.13 per cent and Budgam 26.11 per cent.

Similarly, in Jammu division, Kishtwar has recorded voting percentage of 38.02 per cent, Udhampur 36, Jammu 27.94, Kathua 38.47, Ramban 31.44, Doda 29.49, Samba 39.13, Poonch 43.20, Rajouri 36.45 and Reasi 35.70 till 11:00 a.m.

Kashmir Division recorded an overall polling percentage of 20.55 per cent while Jammu Division recorded 34.63 per cent upto 11:00 a.m.

In the seventh phase of polling, voting is being held in 31 DDC constituencies, 13 in Kashmir division and 18 in Jammu division, where 148 and 150 candidates are in the fray, respectively.

Moreover, 1,852 polling stations have been set up in this phase - 1,068 in Kashmir division and 784 in Jammu division for smooth conduct of elections.
