CBI raids in Imphal in graft case, Rs 5 lakh cash recovered


New Delhi, Dec 16 (IANS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday carried out searches at the residential and official premises of a senior accounts officer in the office of Manipur's Principal Accountant General here and recovered Rs 5 lakh cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh and incriminating documents.

The CBI team undertook the searches at Naorem Budhichandra Singh's residence in connection with its probe into the allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 54 lakh during the period January 1, 2010 to October 31, 2020 in his name and in the name of his family members.

During the searches, the team also recovered documents on properties or agricultural lands, investments in LIC, banks and other financial institutions etc, a CBI official said.
