'Vijay Diwas' celebrated by Gujarat Sainik School


Gandhinagar, Dec 16 (IANS): Vijay Diwas, celebrated to commemorate India's military victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, was observed by the Sainik School at Balachadi, Jamnagar, on Wednesday.

A webinar was conducted by the NCC Coy of Sainik School Balachadi. The Chief Guest, Group Captain Ravinder Singh, Principal, Sainik School Balachadi, laid the wreath at 'Shourya Stambh - the War Memorial of Martyrs. A presentation depicting the history and importance of 'Vijay Diwas' was made at the webinar. Cadets Neel Patel and Viraj Trivedi were present at the event along with T/OS Sunil Kumar, ANO, Sainik School Balachadi NCC Coy. Other cadets attended the webinar through video conference.

Captain Ravinder Singh said, "School is a platform where cadets can learn about the glorious history of our armed forces and the war fought by them. I advise the cadets to remember the sacrifice of the soldiers who laid their lives to uphold the integrity of the nation and pay them tributes on such occasions."

Meanwhile, the Southern Western Air Command held a one-day 195-km cycle rally on Saturday to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war. The participants interacted with the civilians on their route and received an overwhelming response from the public.

The cycle rally was organised from the defence base at Chiloda, Gandhinagar to the Sun Temple at Modhera with the slogan "Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam" with the aim to spread awareness about the Indian Air Force.
