Mangaluru, Dec 22: The course inauguration of the 18th batch of GNM, 17th batch of BSc (N), 12th batch of MSc (N), 4th batch of BSc Renal Dialysis Technology, 1st batch of BSc Imaging Technology, 1st batch of BSc Medical Laboratory Technology, 1st Batch of BSc Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology was held on December 22 at 10 am at the Athena College auditorium.
The programme commenced with a prayer service led by Sharlet Dsouza, the associate professor of Athena College of Nursing and her team. Charishma Veigas, the assistant lecturer welcomed the gathering which was followed by lamp lighting to mark the inauguration of the course.
Sr Deepa Peter, the principal of Athena College of Nursing briefed about the course and focused on quality education and overall development of the students. Freshers of the various batches were introduced to the audience by their class coordinators. As part of Christmas celebration, students of 2nd year BSc (N) sang carols and 2nd year GNM played a Christmas tableau.
In the presidential address, R S Shettian, the chairman of Athena Institute of health sciences welcomed all the new students to the institution and congratulated them for selecting the college. He assured the management of his support in all the curricular and non-curricular activities.
Priya Carnelio, the assistant lecturer proposed the vote of thanks to all for gracing the occasion by their solemn presence. Asha Shettian, the secretary of Athena Institute Of Health Sciences, Winnie Crasta, the nursing superintendent and Dr Sr Alphonsa Ancheril, dean of Athena College of Allied Sciences were present on the dais.
The programme ended with institutional anthem. The whole programme was compered by assistant lecturers Pramila Cutinha and Shwetha Karkera.
