Aditya Nath Das to be next Andhra Chief Secretary


Amaravati, Dec 22 (IANS): The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday appointed Aditya Nath Das as the state's next Chief Secretary, to succeed incumbent Nilam Sawhney who retires from service on December 31.

Das is a 1987 batch IAS officer, while Sawhney is of the service's 1984 batch.

Sawhney has been appointed as the Principal Advisor to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

According to an official statement, as principal advisor to the CM, she will look after the subjects of health and Covid management, centre-state relations and bifurcation issues.

Sawhney will also handle administrative reforms, strengthening village/ward secretariats and other institutions at various levels in the district, as well as districts' reorganisation, land survey and tilling acts, and subjects and projects as allocated by the Chief Minister from time to time.
