Not more than 300 bull tamers to take part in Jallikattu

Chennai, Dec 23 (IANS): The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday said not more than 300 people can participate in the 'Jallikattu' bull taming sport to be held next year.

In a statement issued here, the government said not more than 300 persons can participate in Jallikattu to be held during 2021.

The bull tamers should also test themselves for coronavirus infection at a government-recognised laboratory and only when they are confirmed to not have the virus infection, they will be allowed to participate, the government said.

The government also said the spectator capacity is restricted to 50 per cent and they will be allowed only after a thermal scan and all should wear a mask.

Jallikattu is normally held as part of Tamil Nadu's harvest festival Pongal.
