India Gate gets a unique 'modern beat booth'

New Delhi, Dec 26 (IANS): Visitors to the iconic India Gate in the national capital can now easily approach the police in any emergency.

With the New Year just around the corner, a modern beat booth decked with a public announcement system, LED panels for display of awareness messages and solar panel, was inaugurated at the war memorial there on Saturday.

The booth is also equipped with water proof, fire proof, dust proof and even vandalism proof features.

Special CP Law and Order (South Zone) Satish Golchha inaugurated the booth in the presence of other senior police officers.

"It is an endeavour by the Delhi police for public outreach. Since the appearance of the booth is vibrant having solar powered LED panels, it gives a conspicuous look with enhanced visibility from a considerable distance. As such, people can easily approach the police in case of any need. Such police booths will also be set up at other prominent places in Delhi," Anil Mittal, Additional PRO Delhi Police, said.

The booth has a solar energy-enabled feature having a storage capacity of 10 hours. It is also remote-WiFi enabled for digital display of informative and awareness messages on LED panels installed at its top and a system for public announcements. The cabin is also equipped with extreme weather regulator for maintaining ideal temperature with movable wardrobe -- first aid facility for emergency and public facilitation desk for public interface.

This model beat box will not only enhance the friendly image of Delhi police, but also provide a comfortable environment even in extreme weather conditions to police personnel manning it.
