Chinese mainland reports 12 new Covid-19 cases


Beijing, Dec 27 (IANS): The Chinese mainland has registered 22 new confirmed coronavirus cases, including 12 locally transmitted infection, the National Health Commission said on Sunday.

Seven of the locally transmitted cases were reported in Liaoning province, while five came Beijing, Xinhua news agency quoted the Commission as saying in its daily report.

The 10 other cases had arrived from outside the mainland, it added

No new suspected cases or deaths related to the disease were reported.

Sixteen Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday following their recovery.

By the end of Saturday, a total of 4,203 imported cases had been reported on the mainland.

Among them, 3,933 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 270 remained hospitalised.

No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

The total number of confirmed cases on the mainland has reached 86,955, including 334 patients still receiving treatment.

A total of 81,987 patients had been discharged following recovery on the mainland, and 4,634 have died so far, according to the Commission.

Meanwhile, a total of 251 asymptomatic cases were currently under medical observation, of whom 206 arrived from outside the mainland.
