7 recent returnees to NZ test Covid-19 positive


Wellington, Dec 29 (IANS): Seven returnees to New Zealand, who were in managed isolation, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday.

There were no new cases in the community, Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry as saying.

The infected persons had returned from the US, India and the UK.

They have been transferred to quarantine in facilities in Christchurch and Auckland, according to the Ministry.

Eight previously reported cases have now recovered.

The total number of active cases currently in New Zealand is 49.

The country's overall caseload and death toll has increased to 2,151 and 25, respectively.
