BJP: Ambedkar wanted Uniform Civil Code, equal rights for women

New Delhi, Dec 29 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, Dushyant Kumar Gautam has said that Bhim Rao Ambedkar wanted a Uniform Civil Code in the country and equal rights for women. The BJP leader also accused the Congress of ignoring Ambedkar.

His statement regarding the Uniform Civil Code comes at a time when there is a demand in the country to implement the same laws for all religions. Organisations associated with the Sangh Parivar are also raising this demand.

Talking to mediapersons at the party headquarters on Tuesday, Gautam said "Bhim Rao Ambedkar did not want Article 370 in the country, instead he wanted a Uniform Civil Code and demanded equal rights for women. The Congress resented Ambedkar so much that he had to wait for a non-Congress government to confer him the Bharat Ratna."

Gautam spoke about schemes like the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) introduced by the Modi government and its benefit to Dalit students. He said, "Before the BJP government came to the Centre, nearly 50 lakh fake students were caught. Scholarships were given to fake names and the Dalit students could not avail the benefits. Today, through DBT, students will get full scholarship."

Gautam said, "When the Central government had recently given scholarships in Punjab, it was Rs 303.92 crore in 2019. But on December 18, the Punjab government took Rs 248 crore from the scholarship. The payment document of Rs 39 crore from this amount has not been found yet. This proves that a huge scam has been committed while giving the scholarships."

Yes, Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will have remedies for several conflicts arising out of different set of personal laws for different communities citizens of a same country.
Settling court cases also have become very difficult due to varied personal laws for different religious people of this country.
Goa is a only state adopted UCC,

No problem with UCC but let it be within the frame work of the constitution with equal rights to everyone and non interference into other’s private and personal matters. But BJP always wants to twist somewhere in between lines all previous laws, rules and regulations to suit its vested interest. BTW, you are against Indian constitution which was written by Dr Ambedkar so, how can you formulate only UCC as per your wishes without the constitutional basic structure?????????..........
