Arms, ammunition recovered from LoC village in J&K

Jammu, Dec 30 (IANS): In a joint operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army have recovered two pistols, 70 pistol-rounds and two grenades kept hidden in the bushes near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Dabbi village of Jammu's Poonch, officials said on Wednesday.

The arms and ammunition were kept there by the terrorist handlers from Pakistan, and were recovered on the disclosure of three terrorist-associates arrested on Sunday.

Poonch Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Angral said during the questioning of one of the arrested persons, Yaseen Khan, some vital clues were obtained after which a team of police and army launched an operation in the area of Dabbi and recovered a consignment of arms and ammunition kept in a polythene bag in the bushes.

"Two pistols, 70 bullets and two grenades have been recovered so far and more searches are going on," SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said.

He said the militant outfits were trying to target religious places in Poonch, but their nefarious designs have been foiled by the Army and the police.
