Shimoga, Jun 5: B Y Aruna Devi, daughter of Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, runs Jana Shikshana Samsthan here, in the capacity of its director. Her organization has been working to spread literacy among the agricultural labourers and tribals in the district.
In recognition of her services towards promoting literacy in the rural places, the union government has appointed her as a member of National Literacy Mission.
Jana Shikshana Samsthan conducts literary campaigns in rural places, imparts training to the youths and women to help them become self-reliant in their lives, besides creating awareness among them on health and environmental issues. The Samsthan had won an award from the National Literacy Mission in the past, for its activities.
