Mangaluru, Dec 30: Despite the fact that the city police commissioner had issued a prohibitory order under CrPC section 144 from 12 am of December 29 to 12 am of December 30, with the purview of 200 meters of Mahatma Gandhi Centenary PU College and Moodbidri Mahaveera College, members of political parties were seen violating the order.

Political parties who gathered outside the polling station in Mahatma Gandhi Centenary PU College were seen celebrating by gathering in large numbers in the vicinity of the counting centre. It was found that members of political parties rejoiced using bands, blowing whistles and playing music in their vehicles. Moreover, the public gathered without adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines. They have also engaged in a verbal scuffle in the vicinity.

As party workers from different political parties gathered in large numbers, it was a herculean task for police officials to maintain order in the area.
