Saudia to Charge SR15 Extra on Tickets Issued by travel Agencies

JEDDAH, Jun 7 (Arab News): An official source at Saudi Arabian Airlines announced Sunday that a fee of SR15 will be added to the prices of local tickets issued by travel agencies and Saudia offices starting June 15.

“Tickets issued electronically will be free of charge but tickets for domestic flights issued by travel agencies or Saudia offices will have an issuance charge of SR15,” he said. The official said all international airlines are restructuring their sales outlets by expanding the concept of self-service through the Internet.

“This will make it easy for travelers to obtain their tickets anytime, anywhere in the country,” he added. Saudia has introduced the system of direct ticket purchases through the Internet and automatic ticketing kiosks. By so doing the commission used to be paid to travel agents for issuance of domestic tickets has been abolished.
