Vaccine to be free across country: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS): As India gears up to launch the world's largest immunisation drive against coronavirus, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Saturday that the vaccine will be free across the country.

"Not just in Delhi, it will be free across the country," Vardhan said when asked for the government's position on the issue.

The comment is significant, given the fact that India has recorded the second highest numbers of corona infections after the United States.

Notably, the coronavirus vaccine is slated to be rolled out soon as the one developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca has been recommended by an expert panel, tasked with vetting Covid-19 vaccine proposals, and forwarded to the Drug Controller General of India for approval.

"The Drug Controller General of India will soon give its recommendation on the applications," Vardhan said. According to top government sources, the vaccination process will begin from January 6.

The central government plans to vaccinate nearly 30 crore persons in the first phase of the immunisation drive. The vaccine will be administered to one crore healthcare workers, along with 2 crore frontline and essential workers, and 27 crore elderly, mostly above the age of 50 with comorbidities.

On Saturday, authorities were conducting a mega drill at 259 sites in all states and union territories to help officials practise how to manage vaccine supply, storage and logistics, including cold chain management.

As India gears up to launch the world's largest immunisation drive, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday said that one crore healthcare workers and two crore frontline workers would be given free vaccine in the first phase of the inoculation drive.

"In the first phase of vaccination, free vaccine will be provided across the nation to most prioritised beneficiaries that include one crore healthcare and 2 crore frontline workers," Vardhan said in a tweet.

He, however, added, that the details of how the remaining 27 crore priority beneficiaries will be vaccinated till July is getting finalised.

I don't understand the statements made by the ministers. Why you pressurize the word free vaccine? Is it not the duty of the government to provide free vaccine? Do not be surprised if they say ,we have given free vaccine and now vote us for the free vaccine that is provided. There are Lakhs of primary health centers and civil hospitals, defence hospitals and research centers built by previous governments. The present government can use these platforms and can vaccinate all the population within a month.

During Bihar state election time BJP made an astounding announcement for free vaccine if BJP is voted to power in Bihar and people from non BJP ruled states were feeling isolated from mainstream. Do we need now anything to say how fake and cheap BJP is and now the same party is saying its free throughout the nation as elections are over in Bihar?????.....Fooling people with yet another fake announcement which is already free to the whole nation and to the world declared by UN????!!!!!......Cheapest of cheap publicity by BJP since it has nothing else to proudly boast off its successful achievements.

From our childhood, we have been taught vaccines are for diseases and viruses, so anything against it it is difficult to follow or digest it including following divine warning on vaccines...

Jesus on new nano vaccines in a message to John Leary dated Thursday, December 3, 2020
    9
    ...
Jesus said: “My people, your doctors are using various means to reduce the number of deaths from this virus. The current virus is not killing that many people, but the new nano vaccines will be more deadly than this disease. These nano vaccines will attack your DNA and your immune systems. Refuse to take these vaccines even if they threaten to kill you or lose your job. The vaccines and the China virus are a means for the deep state to reduce the population of the world. Bill Gates and the deep state leaders are behind these vaccines and they will kill many people. There also will be a more deadly virus, and the deep state will develop a more deadly vaccine that will continue to cause more dead bodies all around you, as I have shown you in previous visions. When this deadly virus is about to be spread, I will warn My people, and I will call My people to leave quickly for the protection of My refuges.”

Nothing is Free in any country,
It looks free but the Serum Institute or anybody doesn't work for free, they get paid by the govt. & it will lower its hands into our own pockets to pay for them as they did while writing off the loans taken by Bhai Modis & other Gujjus.
The patent holders like Gavi or Gates Foundation gets royalty income on every vial of vaccine produced, our money will land in his pockets thanks to the hoax he successfully created through collusion with WHO, China & Big Tech.
Good news is it will take some years to get all vaccinated by that time all the side effects of the present vaccines will come out, & no use be regretting it later as it can't be removed within the body once it gets inside our cells whether for good or bad.
Preacaution is the best policy, Wait & Watch.

Harsh Vardhan is a ENT surgeon and less of a politician, so believe what he says. Those who are seropositive ( already have antibodies) may or maynot require a vaccine in the first place. Muft hai to mumkin hai.

No - it's not appeasement. I generally don't trust BJP's policies esp with the economy but here I feel that the cure must be available free to all - rich or poor on a voluntary basis.

If you need to eliminate this infection from the country and bring in herd immunity then you need to cover as much people as possible for the benefit of all.
