Mangalore, Jun 7: The Kanara Catholic Educational Co-operative Society organized an educational aid programme in their office located at Catholic Centre, on Sunday June 6.
City’s entrepreneur Loui J pinto was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he urged the students who were awarded educational aid, to make the best use of it and to shape a better future and said that it would bring about the community’s rapid progress in the years to come.
Seventy students of Kannada medium schools were awarded scholarships worth Rs 50,000 on the occasion.
The donors—Ronald Colaco, Bangalore, real estate developer Rohan Monteiro, Desmond D’Souza Fujaira, Agnes Rodrigues Bendore, Celine Saldanha Bendore, Ferlin Pinto Bendore and leading builder Lancy Mascarenhas have been donating annually for educational aid since many years.
Kanara Catholic Educational Co-operative Society has been awarding scholarships to poor and needy students who are studying in different Kannada medium schools across Dakshina Kannada district, since the past decade. It also lends loans to pursue higher education.
Kanara Catholic Educational Co-operative Society president Rudolph D’Silva welcomed the gathering.
Honorary secretary Lawrence Pinto read the names of students. Director Ullas Rasquinha proposed the vote of thanks while director George Rodrigues compered the programme.
