Criminal carrying Rs 25,000 bounty held in Gurugram


Gurugram, Jan 4 (IANS): A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head was arrested by the police on Sunday from Fazilpur Mod in Gurugram following a tip-off, police said on Monday.

He was identified as 23-year-old Karmjeet alias Kandy belonging to Dulhera village in Jhajjar district. A countrymade pistol and one cartridge was seized from him.

According to the police, Karmjeet was allegedly involved in cases of murder, attempt to murder, loot and robbery registered against him at different police stations in Gurugram.

"After receiving specific inputs about Karmjeet, a police team of Palam Vihar Crime unit led by Inspector Jogender Singh, nabbed him from Fazilpur Mod and recovered an illegal weapon from his possession on Sunday," said Gurugram ACP (Crime) Preet Pal Sangwan.

During his questioning, Karmjeet confessed that he along with his accomplices had committed murder and robberies in Gurugram and other parts of Haryana.

"The accused was involved in multiple heinous crimes committed across the state. The Haryana police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head", Sangwan said.

Karmjeet will now be produced before the district court.
