Mumbai: Fake facebook friend dupes Vasai man of Rs 80,000

Mumbai, Jan 5: A Vasai man was duped of Rs 80,000 by a fake facebook friend. The victim supposedly extended to help the accused after he sought help stating some emergency and ended up in getting duped of Rs 80,000.

The police stated that the accused had asked the victim to transfer the amount of Rs 15,000 to his e-wallet but the transaction failed. He then requested if he could provide his credit card details and OTP, without suspecting any fraud gave the details. Within minutes, his account was debited of Rs 80,000.

The Manickpur police have registered a case of cheating against the accused. The police have also asked the people to be cautious from frauds and refrain from sharing any account details with unverified personalities.
