Army intensifies search for missing Captain in Jodhpur lake


Jaipur, Jan 8 (IANS): The Army on Friday intensified its efforts to search for Captain Ankit Gupta who went missing in Takhat Sagar lake in Jodhpur during a special exercise a day earlier, officials said.

Captain Ankit from the Army's 10 Para Special Forces, along with three commandos, had jumped into the water reservoir from a helicopter during the exercise on Thursday.

While the three commandos came out, the officer did not reach the bank even after a long wait. The Army has since launched a massive search operation that did not yield any result till Friday afternoon.

The Army had called in experts on Friday morning to trace the missing Captain Ankit, 28, who got married on November 23.

Meanwhile, his friends and family members in Gurugram in Haryana are posting touching messages on the social media.

A few officials said that they believed that Captain Ankit might have got stuck in undergrowth in the reservoir.
