Can stay implementation of the farm laws: SC to Centre

New Delhi, Jan 11 (IANS) Hearing petitions challenging the new farm laws as well as the ones related to the ongoing agitation at Delhi borders, the Supreme Court on Monday said 'it will stay the implementation of the farm laws if the government did not do it'.

Chief Justice said, "We will stay implementation if the Centre doesn't do it."

The Supreme Court said it wants to make it clear that it is not stifling protest and the protest could carry on.

But the question is whether protest should be held at the same site or should be shifted to accommodate free movement of citizens, the top court said.

The apex told the Centre that it is reiterating to form a committee to examine the farm laws. "Until then, the court can stay the implementation of the farm laws.

"We want the atmosphere to be conducive, let the laws be on hold and go to the committee," said the CJI.

The court said it apprehends there may be violence at the protest site intended or unintended.

"We don't want blood on our hands," said the Chief Justice S.A. Bobde.

Supreme Court is supreme... Let them decide on the farm laws... Arrogant Government doesn't want to solve the difficulties of the farmers and they promote Crony Capitalists!!!
Let the supreme court appointed committee decide on the implementation of the new farm laws with their wisdom and better for the farmers life. In fact farmers genuinely require MSP for their products.

It is clear to the people of our country that these three farm bills was a dubious case of match fixing by Modi and Amit Shah for their crony capitalists friends like Ambani and Adani. The elaborate advance preparations , go downs, super markets, land acquisitions and other arrangements by industrialists Abmani and Adani are already in the public domain. These crony capitalists will then dominate the agriculture sector and render the farmers vulnerable and vanquished.

The BJP Govt has made a mockery of Parlimentary Democracy by passing these Farm Bills without any discussion in the house or taken any of the stake holders into confidence. They finally passed it in the Rajya Sabha in a most deceitful manner through a voice vote just to please their Crony Capitalist friends at the expense of the Farmers.

A Suit Boot Ki Sarkar that is totally insensitive, Callous, Indifferent, Arrogant and Autocratic that cares two hoots for the lower sections of our society including farmers. "Since Independence, it is for the first time that an arrogant government has come to power. It is not even looking at the pain and sufferings of farmers, forget about the common man,"
If Agriculture is a State subject the why has the center passed Bills on Farm Laws on Agriculture.
the BJP government is under pressure to fill the bags of their billionaire friends. Come, support the farmers.". 'Kale Kanoon Hatao- Bharat Ke Kisan Ko Bachao'.

SC is trying to gain confidence of farmers. Recently farmers rejected the suggestion by Govt to approach SC for repealing the farm laws.
SC understood if they continuously take the side of Govt, then people will stop going to SC for any Govt related cases.
Anyways good move by SC and hope in future also they will uphold the rights of people of the country

SC should stay the Farm Laws fast. Unless the Parliamentary standing committee clears the farm laws it should not be invoked.

Finally Supreme Court takes a good step. There has been unrest in our country since last 5 - 6 years. Government should put people as first priority. Not privatisation and corporates.
I AM PROUD - STILL WE ARE IN THE DEMOCRACTIC - SALUTE TO SUPREME COURT.
