Bantwal, Jun 12: Putting an end to the dispute over managing the affairs of Polali Goddess Rajarajeshwari Temple near here, the state High Court on Friday June 11, permitted Taranath Alva to continue as the hereditary trustee of the temple.
In a verdict, Justice Ajit Gunjal, said that Alva will continue to look after the temple affairs until and unless someone files a civil suit against this arrangement and wins the same.
A person named Subhashchandra Nayak had approached the High Court, questioning the appointment of Alva as the hereditary trustee of the said temple, after the expiry of the term of previous trustee, Ramesh Nayak. Subhashchandra had argued that the trusteeship should have been handed over to him by Ramesh Nayak.
Arun Sham, advocate for Ramesh, argued that Alva is the rightful hereditary trustee, as Ramesh had appointed him as his successor after the expiry of the latter’s term. The court concurred with this view.
