Govt will be forced to take back farm laws, says Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi/Madurai, Jan 14 (IANS): Keeping up his attack on the Modi government over the farm laws, Congress' former President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday claimed that it will be forced to take them back.

Addressing media after witnessing Jallikattu (bull-taming) in Madurai, he said: "Mark my words... the government will be forced to take the farm laws back. I am very very proud of what the farmers are doing and I fully support farmers and continue to stand with them."

He claimed that the government is not just "suppressing" the farmers but "conspiring to destroy" them.

"The government is not just neglecting them (farmers), the government is conspiring to destroy them. There is a difference. Neglecting is ignoring. They are not ignoring them... just trying to destroy them because they want to benefit two or three of their friends," he said.

Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly, Gandhi asked:" Are you the Prime Minister for the whole country or for two or three businessmen?"

"When corona came, then they did not help the common man... when the Chinese are sitting on our land, what is the Prime Minister doing," he asked.

The Congress has planned to protest in support of the farmers on January 15 and decided to march to Raj Bhavans in various states.

Meanwhile, the farmers' ongoing protest at Delhi's borders continued, amid the severe cold and dense fog, while they asserted that their stir against the new agriculture laws will intensify in the coming days.

    Just imagine this :

Reliance Retail : Hum APMC se 100 Rupayye zyaada denge.
Karnataka Farmers : 100 Rupayi hechchu ? Kg ge yaa ?? Abbaaa... !!

Well, upon signing the contract they realise that 100 Rupees more per quintal. Meaning, one Rupee per Kg. more than what APMC pays.

Very good. Now let our BJP support the Farm Bills.

It is clear to the people of our country that these three farm bills was a dubious case of match fixing by Modi and Amit Shah for their crony capitalists friends like Ambani and Adani. The elaborate advance preparations , go downs, super markets, land acquisitions and other arrangements by industrialists Abmani and Adani are already in the public domain. These crony capitalists will then dominate the agriculture sector and render the farmers vulnerable and vanquished.

The BJP Govt has made a mockery of Parlimentary Democracy by passing these Farm Bills without any discussion in the house or taken any of the stake holders into confidence. They finally passed it in the Rajya Sabha in a most deceitful manner through a voice vote just to please their Crony Capitalist friends at the expense of the Farmers.

A Suit Boot Ki Sarkar that is totally insensitive, Callous, Indifferent, Arrogant and Autocratic that cares two hoots for the lower sections of our society including farmers. "Since Independence, it is for the first time that an arrogant government has come to power. It is not even looking at the pain and sufferings of farmers, forget about the common man,"
If Agriculture is a State subject the why has the center passed Bills on Farm Laws on Agriculture. The passage of legislation is an act of deception, dupery and defrauding. the Central government and the Parliament never had any consultative process or examination of issues by any committee before passing the laws in question".
"It is thus clear that there are serious attempts at prevarication, distortion, misrepresentation and misleading of the nation, the apex court and all relevant stakeholders, apart from indulging in blatantly contumacious conduct. Not even perfunctory, much less any meaningful pre-legislative consultation was attempted, much less done by the Modi government."
These "evil laws" were rammed down the throat of the Parliament and all discussions, analysis and interactions were guillotined in

The govt has the mandate of the people ..Its mockery to say that its "Mockery of democracy"
Lets leave these words aside ..what is the specific concern you have on this farm bill ? Why only Punjab Farmers are instigated by the congress against this farm law.
From what I understand the Farm law will give the farmers right to choose their buyer ..This will likely kill the middlemen who do not pay the right value for their produce but sell it at high margins ..If the farm laws are going to help the farmers ..why oppose it ? Just because its Modi Jis initiative ?
