Covid vax will work like 'Sanjeevani': Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, Jan 16 (IANS): With the launch of the world's largest vaccination drive in India, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday said that the Covid vaccine will work like 'Sanjeevani' or an elixir in the fight against the pandemic.

Referring to India's victory against polio and chicken pox, the Health Minister said the country is now in a decisive state in its fight against Covid-19.

"We have earlier won fights against polio and chicken pox. Now, India has reached the decisive phase of winning the war against Covid-19 under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Vardhan said.

"Covid vaccine will work like 'Sanjeevani' in the fight against the pandemic".

The Minister was speaking at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he was part of the event launching the drive.

AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria and Niti Aayog member Vinod K. Paul, who heads a government panel on vaccine strategy, were also administered the first doze of Covid-19 vaccine at the institute in front of the Minister.

AIIMS is among the 81 vaccination sites in Delhi.

Lauding efforts of healthcare workers and other Covid warriors, the Minister requested media to play a major role against those trying to spread rumours against the 'Made in India' vaccines -- 'Covishield' and 'Covaxin'.

The Drug Controller General of India has approved 'Covishield' and 'Covaxin' vaccines for emergency use. The Oxford University and AstraZeneca have developed 'Covishield', which has been manufactured in India by Serum Institute of India in Pune while Bharat Biotech has developed 'Covaxin'.

Harsh Vardhan's remarks came after the Prime Minister virtually launched the vaccination drive across the country issuing warning to people to avoid rumours and follow his fresh slogan "Ab dawai bhi, kadai bhi" (now medicine as well as rigour).

The two vaccines were launched in India aimed at ending the pandemic which so far has killed 1,52,093 people in the country and ravaged the economy.

Never compare the natural herb with manipulated untested vaccines which have caused injuries and deaths of healthy people.
Polio eradication is a big lie even today 50000 kids get polio every year in India as live virus is given through polio drops, but now they get different medical term to cover up the scam as most developed nations have stopped oral drops.
Again it was not chicken pox but small pox that was eradicated either through vaccines or herd immunity.
Don't rush and regret later as more cases are being reported of injuries and deaths in US and West. Some have uncontrolled spasms and seizure like movements we notice in severe cerebral palsy cases. Believe in your natural immunity than this RNA based vaccines which never are proven to give any immediate or long term immunity till today as recipients have got infections again.

You are right - if the country's Health Minister and WHO Board Chair doesn't know the difference between chicken pox and the deadly small pox, we should be worried.

Get your facts right before commenting. Covishield and Covaxin aren't RNA based vaccines. Looks like you are as confused as our health minister is about small pox and chicken pox.

OxfordAstraZeneca which is produced by Serum Institute uses adenoviruses from Chimpanzees to carry the gene responsible for the spike protein of the Novel corona virus into the cells. In the trials they have caused very heavy inflammation in animals and all died. The introduction of cross species viruses will cause dangerous cytokines storm and their actions might cause unknown immune responses causing injuries and deaths.
Bharat vaccines carry human viruses but they too splice them and add some other genes to produce antibodies. The adjuavants in them cause toxic reactions and are known to cause injuries and deaths or autoimmune diseases.
Till today no corona virus has been isolated ,it is believed corona virus is the culprit through a test that never gurantees the debris it detects is from them out of 120000 viruses. Nobody can give protection to a mutating viruses as HIV and Flu vaccines have failed every year.
