Riyadh, Jan 20 (IANS): New coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia crossed the 200-mark for the first time in more than a month with 226 infections reported.
The Kingdom has been reporting less than 200 cases regularly. On December 7 last year, 209 new Covid-19 cases were recorded, the Saudi Gazette reported on Tuesday.
According to the Ministry of Health, six more patients died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by Covid-19 over the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 365,325 and virus-related fatalities to 6,335.
The ministry also reported 156 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 3,57,004.
The Eastern region reported the highest number of infections with 59 cases, followed by the Riyadh region with 53 and the Makkah region with 46 cases.
The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.
With the significant drop in new Covid-19 cases, the active cases in Saudi Arabia also dropped to 1,986, out of which 327 were critical.
