Hyderabad, Jan 20 (IANS): Telangana's active Covid cases dropped below 4,000 on Wednesday as the state continued to record better recovery rate.
The total number of active cases stood at 3,919, including 2,270 who were in home or institutional isolation.
During the last 24 hours, 351 people recovered from the virus taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,86,893.
The recovery rate improved further to 98.11 per cent against the national average of 96.7 per cent.
During the last 24 hours ending 8 p.m. Tuesday, the state logged 267 new cases, taking the tally to 2,92,395.
Two more persons succumbed to the virus, pushing the death toll to 1,583.
According to director of public health and family welfare, the fatality rate remained 0.54 per cent against the national average of 1.4 per cent.
While 44.96 per cent of the deaths occurred due to Covid, 55.04 per cent had comorbidities.
The daily count in Greater Hyderabad continues to be below 100. The state capital saw 55 new cases during the last 24 hours. Karimnagar district recorded the second highest number at 20 followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (18), Rangareddy (16), Warangal Urban (10) and Mancherial (10) each. The daily count in remaining districts was in single digit.
The authorities conducted 27,471 tests. While 22,960 samples were tests in government labs, 4,511 tests were conducted in private labs. With this the cumulative number of tests conducted in the state rose to 75,42,537. Tests per million population reached 2,02,647.
According to officials, 70 per cent of 2,92,395 cases reported in the state so far were asymptomatic.
The data shows that 63.9 per cent of those tested positive so far were aged between 21-50 years. As many as 22.91 per cent were aged above 51 years. The positive cases include 13.18 per cent who were below 20 years.
Of the total cases, 60.44 per cent were male and 39.37 per cent female.
