After violent clashes with police, farmers swarm Red Fort

New Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS): In unexpected developments, hundreds of protesting farmers swarmed the historic Red Fort on Tuesday as their 'Kisan Gantantra Parade' turned violent at several places in the national capital.

A large group of farmers riding tractors and motorcycles thronged the Red Fort carrying the tricolours and farmer union flags in their hands. A few youths even climbed up the flagpole on the 17th century landmark and put up a saffron-coloured pennant.

Visuals from the spot showed farmers swarming the Red Fort even as hundreds of others played a cat-and-mouse game with Delhi Police personnel near the ITO intersection in central Delhi, which witnessed chaos as security personnel were clearly outnumbered by the protesters.

Other video clips showed farmers chasing away policemen on foot as well with tractors, and trying to remove a DTC bus parked across the ITO road stretch by pushing it out of way with a tractor.

The police fired tear-gas shells and lathi-charged the protesters on multiple occasions as farmers remained adamant to move towards the Red Fort.

Later, Rapid Action Force was also deployed at the ITO intersection.

The farmers, after confrontation with police that lasted for around 40 minutes, moved towards Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, which houses the offices of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Clearly this violence has exposed the drunk goons, anti social elements masquerading as Farmers. Good containment by Amit Shah and Delhi Police who did not fire a single bullet.

This farmers protest become a land mark and will be remembered all the time. It is interesting to watch news channels how they are aggressively firing questions asking whose responsibility for the violence to opposition and farmer leaders. Ruling party is not responsible for anything. They do only event management

A few youths even climbed up the flagpole on the 17th century landmark and put up a saffron-coloured pennant. I think this was preplanned by bjp + sanghis to keep farmers busy in confrontation with police and the shameful act of disrespecting national flag + Red Fort. For these boot lickers of British, safron flag is important than tricolor national flag. Why police did not stop these terrorists from climbing the Red Fort. Was it pre-planned with Delhi police.

Happy republic Day to all my fellow Indians.

Govt need to check with intelligence, who is sponsoring these thugs.
Looks like there were some khalistanis dressed and riding horses.

Govt has allowed these fake protestors to come too far away.
And today's protest, they have misused the given permission.

    Jai hind.
    Chai time.

Permission was granted for 5000 farmers with tractors. How come the number exceeded 10,000 with motorbikes? There are indications there were fake protesters who are bent on creating violence and chaos in the country. There’s possibility of those protested against CAA and Art. 370 are also involved.

This is what Modi govt was waiting for - for them to lose their patience.

However, if the government arrests them or punishes them, the whole world, not only the nation, will stand by them.

This will be Modi government's failure. No sane man will neglect a noble man called a farmer, who feeds the masses.

On normal days these tractors plough the hardest portions of dead land & produce food for 1.3 billion people. Now they are all here to plough the dead brains of the BJP Govt and sow the seeds of sanity.

It is now no more a farmers fight , but the fight of right minded citizens. The henchmen of capitalist cronies must be kicked out of their thrones if the nation is to survive. God bless our farmers.
