Mangaluru, Jan 27: Many buses indulge in reckless honking using shrill horns which not only cause noise pollution but also hurt eardrums, increase heart rate, cause stress and add to traffic chaos.
On the occasion of the 32nd National Road Safety Week, the undergraduate students of the department of Criminology, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, here, volunteered in bringing awareness among bus drivers about shrill horns by blowing trumpets to make them realize the noise pollution created by these horns and how this sound disturbs the general public. This awareness programme was organized by Mangaluru City Police and DK Bus Owners Association.
Gopalakrishna Bhat, inspector traffic East Police Station, Jayananda, inspector traffic West Police Station, Dilraj Alva, president of DK Bus Owners Association and Ganesh Mulky Nayak, the programme coordinator were present during the event.
