Beltangady, Jan 29: Search operations continued on Thursday for the fourth consecutive day for Sanath Shetty from Ujire who went missing after a hillock next to the Bangarapalke waterfall within Malavanthige gram panchayat limits suffered a landslide.

Till evening he was not traced, and as it is impossible to undertake operation at night amid forest and hillocks, the search was suspended.

The search party has been extricating debris from the site several feet deep. It may be necessary to break a huge boulder before they can reach further down under the earth. Puttur assistant commissioner Sathish, visited the spot and inspected the operation. He said that at the request of the local MLA, deputy commissioner and district in-charge minister have instructed to undertake suitable measures. On Friday, under the guidance of Beltangady police sub-inspector Nandakumar, arrangements were made to bring crusher units to the place. He noted that the area has a proliferation of bugs and there is a need to take care of the health of the National Disaster Response Force personnel and the locals. It is difficult to carry heavy machinery to the spot through the difficult narrow and steep terrain.

Sathish stated that the government is extending full support for the search operation.
