Pawar faces netizens' ire for 'advising' Sachin on farmers' issue

New Delhi, Feb 7 (IANS): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar 'advising' cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar to be careful with his words on the farmers' issue, has not gone down well with social media users who expressed their anger against Pawar.

Netizens described Pawar's statement as "threatening" the batting legend.

Many social media users also targeted Pawar while sharing the achievements of Tendulkar who brought laurels to the country. Pawar on Saturday had reacted to a tweet by Tendulkar in response to US popstar Rihanna's tweet on the farmers' protests. Pawar had said, "Many people have reacted sharply to the stand taken by them (Indian celebrities). I would advise Sachin (Tendulkar) to restrain himself while speaking about any other field."

People started targeting Pawar as soon as his statement went viral on Twitter.

One social media user said, "Sharad Pawar is currently in power in Maharashtra. He is threatening a resident of the state for speaking openly. According to him, those people criticising popstar Rihanna are villians."

Another user said, "Sharad Pawar is warning Sachin Tendulkar for taking a pro-India stand."

Mr. Sharad Pawar is a senior politician and has in-depth knowledge of farmers’ woes and difficulties. Sachin is not knowledgeable about the farmers’ problems,, he should have focused on his area of expertise rather than poking knows in ongoing strike of poor farmers.

Money talks. These cricketers only talk or play for money. Interesting to know how much was transferred to their account from PM fund. Also Ed and Income tax threats could be a possibility.

Pawar is a seasoned senior responsible politician and he knows what he is talking. He advised Tendulkar to choose his words and not to mix sovereignty of the nation with ruling govt party’s decision. As usual govt and its blind bhakths should not drag nation into this. Its a fight between the ruling govt laws and the affected citizens. Country as a whole has nothing to do with this. In fact sovereignty of the nation is its constitution which the govt itself has disrespected and insulted by working against it which amounts to being a traitor for treason. BTW, its a democratic country so nobody is forced to be loyal to any political party but should be only to the nation and its constitution. BJP IS NOT COUNTRY.

The laws are passed by a democratically elected government. If Rihanna or any other celebrity speaks their opinion, Sachin can too. The farmers can defeat a democratically elected government and have the laws repealed. why they are on streets even when the laws are being suspended. Any how the next elections are not very far. therefore it seems that the agitation is instigated to weaken India economically.
