Thieves break into bungalow in Ponda, steal gold ornaments worth 2.5 lac

Panaji, Feb 11: In an unfortunate incident, a man lost valuables including gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lac after thieves broke into their bungalow at Khadapabandh ward of Ponda. Dilip Kamat was away with his family when the incident occurred and the theft came to light only on Monday morning February 8.

"Kamat had gone to Margao for his wife's medical treatment along with their son, daughter-in-law and grandson on Saturday afternoon and the bungalow was closed," the Ponda police said.

The police used fingerprints' expert and a dog squad to nab the thieves, but could not find a hint. The police is now following a list of suspects provided by the owner, the police said.

A case was registered under Sections 454, 457 and 380 of IPC against an unknown accused. PSI Yeshwant Mandekar is investigating the case.
