Udupi: 'Union Budget 2021-22 pro-farmer, focuses on better infra' - S Angara

Udupi, Feb 13: Fisheries minister, S Angara in a press meet at the BJP office here, said, “The diesel subsidy of Rs 70 crore from the last three months is pending and 60 kiloliters of kerosene are pending to be distributed to fishermen. This has been kept pending since the last year. There is a demand for additional kerosene of 400 kiloliters. The fishermen have submitted a proposal for a solar dryer to dry fish. All these matters will be discussed in a meeting of the fisheries department to be held in Bengaluru on Tuesday February 16."

The meeting was held on Saturday February 13. "The union budget 2021-22 is not anti-farmer. It was made with a vision to support national development. The government focused mainly on providing basic infrastructure facilities. It has also announced Rs 1,31,531 crore for the agricultural sector, Rs 73,932 for health sector, Rs 93,224 crore for education and Rs 4,78,196 crore for defense sector.

A meeting with chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and the concerned departmental officials will be held in Bengaluru on Tuesday February 16 to discuss the various proposals, schemes and developments in fishing.
