Mangaluru: Gram panchayat president delivers baby a day after winning election

Mangaluru, Feb 14: The newly-elected president of Amblamogaru gram panchayat has delivered a baby boy, only a day after she won the election and took charge of her new post.

The election to Amblamogaru gram panchayat president and vice-president posts were held on Friday February 12.


Congress-supported Lata Parameshwar and Mohammed Iqbal had taken over charge as president and vice-president of Amblamogaru gram panchayat the same afternoon.

Lata Parameshwar who was pregnant was due to deliver on February 20. However, she experienced labour pains soon after she took over charge.

She was admitted to hospital on Friday night, and delivered a baby boy on Saturday February 13.
