Mangalore: DVS – Another Victim Steamrolled by Reddy Juggernaut?

Mangalore, Jun 29: Udupi MP, D V Sadanand Gowda, has resigned from the post of the director of Karnataka Milk Federation. The man, who always projected himself as a disciplined soldier of a disciplined party, seems to have lost his patience after losing his importance in the state affairs.
Although Gowda told the pressmen on Monday that his resignation was not a tactic aimed at bringing political pressure on the Chief Minister, he confessed that the Chief Minister had failed to meet the promises made to him. He revealed, that he was promised of the post of the chairmanship of either Bangalore Development Authority or Karnataka Milk Federation, within three months. He was frustrated, as nothing was done even after six months, and as KMF chief, Somashekhara Reddy, who was expected to be there for a short term, claimed that he was chosen for a full term.
“I had dreamt of building KMF on the lines of Amul and make it a household name in the country. Some political forces robbed my prospects of heading the KMF. I am frustrated. There is no need to add political hue to my decision that was voluntary. I resigned on Saturday,” he added.
He noted that as a nominated director of KMF, he had a limited role. If he was made the head of the KMF or BDA, he said, he would have acquired rights to take decisions. “I do not know who will replace me in KMF. I am not bothered. I will continue to discharge my responsibilities as an MP,” he claimed.
It is being analyzed in political circles that Gowda of late, had been sidelined in many issues, and that in most of the cases, the Reddy brothers from Bellary had blocked his progress for the simple reason that he remained a trusted lieutenant of Yeddyurappa during the times of crises. It is not a secret that Yeddyurappa too does not have a free hand. Otherwise, he would have made V Somanna and Shobha Karandlaje ministers again by now.
