Chitradurga, Feb 21: Social welfare minister Sriramulu has given an explosive statement in which he has accused the leaders of his own BJP party of hatching a plot to defeat him in the Badami legislative constituency.

Speaking at a function at Kondlahalli of Molakalmooru taluk of the district, Sriramulu said, "Only people like Modi, Amit Shah and Sriramulu contest from two constituencies. Sriramulu belongs to a small Valmiki Nayaka community. BJP members thought that if Sriramulu wins he will be a thorn for us and got me defeated.

"I have got defeated by a very narrow margin of 140 votes in the Badami constituency against former chief minister Siddaramaiah. When I got defeated in Badami, the people of Molakalmooru made me victorious. I will not forget the people of this constituency who made me victorious by a margin of 48,000 votes. I may give up my life but will not give up your faith on me,” he said.
