Panaji, Feb 26: Three women were rescued after the crime branch busted at prostitution racket at Calangute. From a tip-off obtained that some women are forced into prostitution, a team was formulated to verify the information.
Superintendent of police (SP) crime branch Shobhit Saxena said that during the intervening night of Wednesday, February 24 and Thursday, a hotel in Calangute was raided by a crime branch team led by PI Narayan Chimulkar and found prostitution to be underway.
"Two persons acting as pimps - Dipak Sarkar, a resident of Kolkata, and Ranjita DCosta, a resident of West Bengal - were arrested," the police said.
He further said that the women rescued were placed in the protective home.
