Mysuru, Feb 26: Corporator Sunanda Palanetra, who unsuccessfully contested for the post of the mayor on behalf of the BJP and faced defeat, has volunteered to resign from her post as a city corporator.
She addressed a letter to chief minister B S Yediyiurappa, duly seeking his guidance. "I was fielded by the BJP in the election to the post of the mayor here. I have been defeated, and this has hurt me very much. I am feeling a sense of awkwardness to continue to serve as a corporator. Therefore I want to resign. I have requested the chief minister and city BJP president Shreevatsa, to provide me guidance about the future course," she stated.
Sunanda says she is feeling guilty for causing insult to the chief minister by her defeat and this is hurting her a lot. She said she feels that if anyone other than her was fielded, that candidate would have come out victorious. "I could not have attended Yediyurappa’s family marriage function with a face clouded by defeat. I did not want to shed tears in the presence of Yediyurappa at the venue of the marriage. Therefore, I stayed away from the function," she explained, duly adding that she is fed up with politics.
