Udupi, Mar 6: Every year March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day all over the world. The theme for this year is 'Choose To Challenge'. It says that women are responsible for their own thoughts and actions every day and challenge the world every day. The theme further signifies that women can choose to challenge gender bias and inequality in the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shashikiran Umakanth, medical superintendent of Dr TMA Pai Hospital said, "Dr TMA Pai Hospital is introducing two special health check-up packages for women, from March 8 to March 13. The package for women below 40 years includes blood tests including haemoglobin, cholesterol, and thyroid profile, along with and breast examination at Rs 1,000. The package for women above 40 years includes urine tests, chest X-ray and test for cervical cancers along with all the tests included in the above package, at Rs 1,500. Both the packages include physician, surgery and gynaecology consultations. Dr Shashikiran Umakanth has requested women to make use of this inexpensive facility.
