Kerala BJP asks CM to reply to Shah's questions

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 8 (IANS): A day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah took on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, shooting a volley of questions at him in the gold smuggling and reverse dollar hawala cases that have rocked the state for months now, state BJP president K. Surendran on Monday demanded the answers.

"It's now Vijayan's turn to respond to the various questions that were asked by Shah at the political rally held here on Sunday. Vijayan has to respond and cannot duck these questions," said Surendran.

Vijayan in the past week has been going hammer and tongs against the various central agencies, especially the Customs and the Enforcement Directorate after they took major steps in these cases that have haunted the Left government.

Shah in the course of his political speech, billed as the curtain-raiser to the April 6 Assembly polls asked Vijayan to answer if the main accused in the gold smuggling case (without taking Swapna Suresh's name) worked in a department under Vijayan; was she given a monthly salary of Rs 3 lakh; whether the accused was taken on foreign tours by him or his officials; besides she is a visitor at his official residence.

Shah asked Vijayan to answer in "Yes or No" to his queries.

Vijayan had in the past said he had no clue of Suresh getting a job and had maintained stoic silence when the Congress-led opposition alleged that she was a frequent visitor at his official residence.

It was only much later that Vijayan, last year pointed out that she would have come along with the officials of the UAE Consulate office here, to his official residence.

Shah also pointed out that a witness in the gold smuggling case died under suspicious circumstances and asked if any proper probe was done on it.

Surendran when asked about this 'death', said, he has no knowledge of it and since it was the Union Home Minister who pointed out, he would have done it based on proper information.

"I do not know of it," added Surendran.

With the election campaigning picking pace, both Congress and the BJP would be raising these cases and issues related to them and the Left poll managers would likely have a tough time.

These questions raised by Amit Shah are quite pertinent and requires thorough investigation. UDF led by CONgress is principal opposition and they should've asked them to the LEFT led LDF, but since both are allies in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, BJP is trying filling in opposition vacuum in Kerala. Kerala and Tamil Nadu along with Puducherry are the states where BJP has absolutely nothing to loose, but everything to gain!

    J. Anata...CBI and ED under Central Government. Why don't they order to conduct investigation on Vijayan? Why Central government is not doing that??? BJP's clean credentials are well known and at the same time corruption from any one is not acceptable. You cannot be treated as saint if you do corruption even if you chant Jai Shriram. Karma haunts. See Prajna Takur and Anant Kumar Hegde. Not feeling happy about their health condition but look at them now. This is Karma..

Eight months of investigations by NIA/CBI/ED/NAU/IT was an unending saga of fabricated Conspiracy theories and trial by the media. Now since the Kerala elections are drawing near, the BJP with the help of these central agencies are only indulging in a smear campaign of unadultrated slander against the CM of the state.High time all these agencies merge with the BJP than hiding behing the fig leaf of being independent and Impartial. The Country is painfully aware of how the Central Agencies are being misused to target opposition Leaders and Parties. This is the Ugly face of Modi's Maan Ki Baat and his innocent pretensions behind TV cameras in his repeated addresses to the Nation.Central Government Tax and Enforcement Agencies like Income Tax Dept and Enforcement Directorate have rarely raided BJP Leaders over the last six years. It will be nice to know through the media if any BJP leader has been issued any IT or ED Notice during the last six years. ED or IT departments would have known that large sums of money were transacted for luring of MLAs at the time of toppling of non-BJP governments but have turned a blind eye. The BJP has nothing to showcase of their six years of misrule except for Disaster on all fronts. So recourse to such questionable means of misusing central agencies to target opposition parties and their leaders and win elections through the back door
