Mangaluru: St Agnes College (Autonomous) organises 'Healthy Meal, Healthy Mile' webinar

Mangaluru, Mar 9: In observance ofInternational Women’s Day, Women’s Cell of St Agnes College (Autonomous), here, in collaboration with the department of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) organised a webinar on Healthy Meal, Healthy Mile.

The resource person for the webinar was Dr Subhashree Nandy and Dr Revathi T M, postgraduate tutors of the department of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College.

The webinar was organised with the intention of creating awareness among faculty and students on the importance of physical activity and healthy diet.

Dr Poonam R Naik, professor and head of the department of Community Medicine of Yenepoya Medical College gave the welcome address.

Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous), delivered opening remarks and highlighted the theme for Women’s Day. She emphasised the multi-faceted personality of a woman, obstacles faced by her in balancing the numerous responsibilities.

Dr Subhashree Nandy then led the session by defining what a healthy diet is and its significance. She emphasised on how important it is to keep a track of our calorie intake and how to have a balanced diet for healthy living.

The session continued with Dr Revathi T M speaking on physical activity and its relevance to healthy living. She highlighted the health benefits of the same and also enumerated the different types of activities for different age groups.

Dr Muhammed Sali K K, postgraduate tutor of the department of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College conducted a prayer.

Sheryl Preethika, assistant professor of the department of Commerce and women's cell co-ordinator of St Agnes College (Autonomous) expressed words of gratitude.

A total of 98 faculty and students had registered for the session. The webinar was appreciated by the participants.
