Bantwal, Mar 11: Gold ornaments weighing about 107 grams worn by people were stolen when they were asleep along with some relatives at a house at Mittoor in Idkidu village. The theft came to light on Wednesday March 10.
The thieves managed to execute this task deftly at the house of Hamza Mura Ummer (53), resident of Mittoor. The thieves entered the house by breaking open the bolt of the rear door at the upper floor of the house.
Guests and wife of the house owner were asleep at the ground floor of the house while Hamza slept in a room on the first floor. At about 4 am, Hamza's wife woke and found that the rear door of the house was open. Gold ornaments worn by the relatives who were sleeping which included a bracelet, anklet, bangles etc were stolen. The theft reportedly happened between 11 pm and 4 am.
A complaint in this connection was registered in Vittal police station. The police have begun probe.
