BJP demands probe into alleged attack on Mamata Banerjee

New Delhi, Mar 11 (IANS): The BJP on Thursday demanded a detailed inquiry into the alleged attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram. A BJP delegation met the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal in Kolkata and demanded that video footage be made available in the public domain to clear the air over the alleged attack.

In a letter to the poll body, BJP's Pratap Banerjee, Sabyasachi Dutta and Shishir Bajoria said, "We are shocked to see on TV that the chief minister Mamata Banerjee has been injured while in Nandigram assembly constituency wherein she has alleged that she was pushed by some people."

They wrote that this is a very serious allegation involving the security of the chief minister. "We are concerned how such an incident could have occurred especially where the Director Security and Additional Director Security were both present at the spot. Police personnel in Nandigram were in thousands which makes the breach even more alarming," they said.

They demanded that a detailed enquiry be ordered and the video footage of Wednesday's incident be made available in the public domain to clear the air.

    Mamata Banerjee's popularity in West Bengal is all too evident from the sea of people around her where ever she goes. Compare that with BJP and Modi in Bengal! The Brigade was not even half filled on 7th March. The brigade parade ground appeared so lean from drone pictures that the saffrons have to resort to damage control by publishing fake video of Left fronts 2019 rally at brigade parade ground to prevent demoralization of their cadres elsewhere in India- Bengal knows the fact, Bengalis know the fact- not withstanding what BJP says! BJP is heavily dependent on BIHISANS (विभीषण) of other parties, the religious divide they have created and Hindi speaking voters of Bengal and to a great extent on the 'outsider's from 'Bengal' like the PM, the HM the likes from various provinces who are coming every now and then to Bengal to tore apart Mamata who is fighting single handed. I feel amused when I see that the moment the Heavyweight from outside Bengal leaves Bengal, the BJP cadres feel down and out and wait for the next visit by the Heavyweights. Mamata on the other hand is the darling of the masses! In such a scenario when all the pre-poll surveys are giving a clear mandate to her, such a dastardly attack was probably on the cards. The saffron now wants her to be tied down on bed as she, even alone. is proving to be too hot to be handled by the saffrons. The so called saffron Rath has utterly failed to deliver! That is why they are now demanding a probe into the incident through CIA etc so that she can be harassed and distracted from the poll schedule.
