Mangaluru: St Aloysius Gonzaga School awards meritorious students with Vivek Bansal Scholarship

Mangaluru, Mar 23: St Aloysius Gonzaga School on March 20 honoured 51 meritorious students of the academic year 2020-21 with Vivek Bansal Scholarship.

Addressing the achievers, the chief guest of the ceremony, Fr Melwyn Pinto SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions expressed his view that success is a journey and not a destination. It is important to be grateful to people who have instituted the scholarship.

President of the function, Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School said that the Vivek Bansal Scholarship is offered to meritorious students by a renowned writer, Aravind Adiga, who is an alumnus of the institution and secured the first rank in SSLC in 1990. When Adiga received the prestigious Man Booker Prize for his book The White Tiger, he expressed his gratitude and love towards the alma mater in the form of a scholarship and named it after his friend, a prominent entrepreneur, Vivek Bansal. The finance officer of the school, Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, vice-principal Jacintha Anita D'Costa were present on the occasion.

In the same programme, the food court was also inaugurated by Fr Melwin Pinto SJ. The new facility is established for the distribution of mid-day meals for the students of the institution. Acquina compered the programme, Vidya Esther welcomed the gathering and Laveena Kunder proposed the vote of thanks.
