Gujarat sees daily Covid cases, deaths scale new high


Gandhinagar, Mar 25 (IANS): Gujarat on Wednesday saw its daily Covid tally rise to 1,790, taking its tally to 2,92,169 cases, while eight more succumbed, taking the toll to 4,466.

In March so far, the state has added 22,280 cases at a daily average of 928.

A total of 1,277 patients were discharged, taking the total to 2,78,980, while there are 8,823 active cases.

Surat saw 582 cases, Ahmedabad 514, Vadodara 165 and Rajkot 164.

Gandhinagar saw 39 cases, Bhavnagar 38, Jamnagar 35, Patan and Kheda 19 each, Narmada and Mehsana 17 each, Dahod 16, Kutch and Banaskantha 15 each, Amreli 14, Bharuch 13, Morbi 12, Mahisagar 11, Anand 10, Sabarkantha nine, Junagadh, Surendranagar, and Tapi eight each, Navsari, Valsad, and Devbhoomi Dwarka seven each, Gir-Somnath six, Panchmahals five, Dangs four, Porbandar and Aravalli two each and Chotta Udepur and Botad one each.

Two deaths each were reported from Ahmedabad and Surat and one each from Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara.

A total of 1,90,858 people were vaccinated on Wednesday, taking the total to 42,94,599, out of which 36,77,467 persons have received their first dose and 6,17,132 the second.

With increasing cases, the state government decided those entering from Maharashtra will have to show negative RT-PCR test reports. It also said that to cater to the health needs of the citizens, more Dhanvantari Raths have been added.
