4 members of family commit suicide in Telangana

Hyderabad, Mar 25 (IANS): Four members of a family committed suicide in Telangana's Mancherial district.

The tragic incident occurred in the Malkapalli village of Kasipeta mandal of the district on Thursday.

A couple hanged themselves at their house after allegedly poisoning their son and daughter. Police suspect that they took the extreme step in the early hours of the day.

J. Ramesh (40), a farmer, and his wife Padma (35) hanged themselves in their room. The bodies of Akshay Kumar (17) and Soumya (19) were found in another room.

On learning about the incident, police rushed to the village and shifted the bodies to a government-run hospital for autopsy.

The family reportedly took the extreme step due to financial problems. Ramesh, who used to do farming on a leased land, had suffered huge losses due to crop damage.

Police recovered a suicide note from the house. Ramesh wrote that their crop over 30 acres was damaged, causing them huge losses.

Ramesh's daughter was married a few months ago and he had taken loan for the same. Due to crop loss, he could not repay the loan.

Soumya had come to her parents' house a few days ago.
