Mangaluru, Mar 25: A new twist was reported in the case a day after a woman filed a complaint at the city (south) police station here, duly alleging that her husband has been forcibly kidnapped by some people who have kept him in illegal confinement and got him married to a Muslim lady.
Now, another wife (Muslim lady) of the Gangadhar, has filed a complaint stating that she was forcefully married to him at a flat in the city. After marrying him, she realised that he was not from her community and he had affair with other women. Even though the lady maintained a distance from the accused, he sexually exploited her frequently, she stated in her complaint.
Gangadhar stands arrested by the police personnel of Pandeshwar station here on the basis of the said complaint.
Police have booked Gangadhar (62) under charges of rape. It is also said that he had two more wives other than the victim.
Police have booked him under sections 323, 406, 417, 420, 313, 376, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It may be recalled that earlier, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sharan Pumpwell had alleged that ‘Love Jihad’ was being carried out by using ladies with the specific aim of trapping men from other religions. He had asked the police to investigate the case and punish the guilty.
