Jharkhand Minister files nomination for Assembly bypoll

Ranchi, Mar 26 (IANS): Jharkhand Minority Affairs Minister Hafizul Hasan on Thursday filed his nomination as a candidate for the ruling JMM for the Madhupur Assembly bypoll.

The assembly seat fell vacant following death of Hasan's father, Haji Hussain Ansari who was Minority Affairs Minister in the Hemant Soren cabinet. Hasan was subsequently inducted as Minister without being member of the assembly in January this year.

The voting will take place on April 17 and counting will take pace on May 2.

Before Hasan filed the nomination, Soren addressed a rally, appealing to people to vote for Hasan to fulfil dreams of his late father for development of the area.
