Farmers to burn farm law copies as 'Holika Dahan'

Ghazipur, Mar 28 (IANS): The farmers, who have been agitating at Delhi borders for the past four months, would be burning copies of the farm laws as part of the 'Holika Dahan' celebrations on Sunday. They have also invited the police personnel from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, deployed at the borders, to join the Holi celebrations.

"We will celebrate Holi with the Delhi and UP Police personnel deployed at the border. We will make the necessary arrangements for them and communicate to them asking them to celebrate Holi together," Tikait told IANS.

He said, "Whenever there are festivals celebrated at the India-Pakistan border, there are pleasantries exchanged at the border, so why can't it be done here at the Ghazipur border? If pleasantries are not exchanged, then it will mean that Ghazipur border is more dangerous than Pakistan border.

"If all the security forces and police officials do not exchange Holi pleasantries with them, then we (farmers) will think that the Central government does not want to talk to us. The Delhi Police will be given an invitation to join us for Holi celebrations as they, too, are on police duty away from their homes. Everyone should be present at the border in the evening on the occasion of 'Holika Dahan'."

Asked will you also invite the government on Holi celebrations? To this, Rakesh Tikait said, "We (farmers) will only invite the security forces and policemen at the border and not the Central government.

At the Ghazipur border, the farmers have been singing songs and beating drums to celebrate the Holi, and would be burning the copies of three Union farm laws on the occasion of 'Holika Dahan'.

Less we Forget. It is clear to the people of our country that these three farm bills was a dubious case of match fixing by Modi and Amit Shah for their crony capitalists friends like Ambani and Adani. The elaborate advance preparations , go downs, super markets, land acquisitions and other arrangements by industrialists Abmani and Adani are already in the public domain. These crony capitalists will then dominate the agriculture sector and render the farmers vulnerable and vanquished. The BJP Govt has made a mockery of Parlimentary Democracy by passing these Farm Bills without any discussion in the house or taken any of the stake holders into confidence. They finally passed it in the Rajya Sabha in a most deceitful manner through a voice vote just to please their Crony Capitalist friends at the expense of the Farmers. A Suit Boot Ki Sarkar that is totally insensitive, Callous, Indifferent, Arrogant and Autocratic that cares two hoots for the lower sections of our society including farmers. "Since Independence, it is for the first time that an arrogant government has come to power. It is not even looking at the pain and sufferings of farmers, forget about the common man," If Agriculture is a State subject the why has the center passed Bills on Farm Laws on Agriculture.
